REBEL RODDER (RR) ROAD DISPATCH #7:

“If wishes were horses, dreamers would ride”

DAY SEVEN: Tuesday, September 29, 2026

2 States: 14) Iowa 15) Minnesota

Departure time: Noon

After having a late departure time of 12 noon, we arrived six hours later to the world famous baseball field from the Kevin Costner movie, Field of Dreams. (If you build it they will come.) In great relief, we arrived with plenty of sunlight considering the last time we visited, it was pitch dark and closed. This time around, it was still closed but at least accessible and with an hour of daylight remaining so that we can re-enact famous movie scenes like “having a catch” and “having a swing at it.” In fact, the park being closed worked to our advantage making it easier to spray paste two posters and perhaps making two blue porta potties just as famous as this most endearing cornfield. We called it a day and ended our game due to rain.

We ended the night with “fine dining and gourmet cuisine” at a Carly's gas station and mini mart. It was very late and surrounding establishments were closed so we were limited to gas station choices like corn dogs, hot dogs and cheeseburgers whereas Zoraya opted for a charcuterie board package of salami and cheese. After that we proceeded to our last posting of the night. It was a a black plastic trash can with red and black outdoor benches that complemented the colors of the insignia poster
