VOLUME I: THE S3K PROJECT—Installment 2

What if art could do more than reflect the culture—what if it could break the trance and help create a new one?

Installment 2 is where the art stops sitting still—and moves into the streets.

Beginning with “Guerrilla X Artivism,” the installment traces a shift from graffiti, culture jamming, and public art toward what S3K calls mission-oriented strategic art—art designed not just to provoke, but to challenge the stories, assumptions, and power structures shaping everyday life. 

Then “The Birth of Integral Public Art” and the Straw Man Project move the story into action. The reader is dropped into the aftermath of the Los Angeles Staples Center arrest before the narrative flashes back to November 1999, when a small group of Gen-Xers launched the first S3K guerrilla installation at Mount Helix. 

From there, the installment develops the idea of “Breaking the Consensus Trance”—the argument that lasting social change must begin by challenging the mental maps, myths, values, and cultural assumptions that shape how people understand reality. It connects that argument to a developmental model of consciousness moving from magical and imperial stages toward cultural and spiritual consciousness. 

It then turns to the power of myth, artists as modern myth-makers, and The Matrix as an example of a new cultural story capable of expressing generational transformation.
